Texas. We specialize in threaded, three-legged stools. A three-legged stool is designed to adapt, staying solid and stable regardless of the terrain. They are made to work. Our goal at Lumber Club Marfa is to teach members to achieve that same adaptability. A piece of wood acts as the starting point for a contingent adventure in making a useful and beautiful thing. Never without struggle, the achievement of making every stool is a small monument to the evolution of the skill, craft and endurance of each maker: a three-legged victory! Lumber Club Marfa was established by a dad for his daughters and their friends who were interested in learning how to make things using power tools. Members of Lumber Club Marfa meet after school on Fridays and learn the various tasks of selecting wood, cutting, sanding, drilling and threading required to build each stool. Stools are made from a range of domestic and exotic hardwoods and, when possible, utilize scrap lumber sourced from furniture makers from all over the country. Each stool is unique, hand-stamped and hand-numbered. *Lumber Club Marfa stools were featured in The Crossroads 2023, an exhibition celebrating American design presented at the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) and WantedDesign Manhattan, May 21-23 at the Javits Center in New York City. * Author E.
